Researchers contributing data to their NDA Collection will upload data intermittently over the course of their project and should do the following at project end.

Data Analysis

NDA Collections, the containers for data within NDA associated with a particular grant, can be in one of several Phases: "Enrolling", "Data Analysis", and "Funding Complete". For most of the project's lifespan, it will be in an "Enrolling" phase, meaning it is in the ongoing process of enrolling new study participants, collecting data, and engaging in cyclical biannual uploads of primary data to NDA. Once data collection has ceased and there will be no new data to upload, the NDA Collection will enter the "Data Analysis" phase.

• This transition is performed by the Principal Investigator or authorized designee by requesting a "permanent" exemption from future data submission cycles via the Data Expected Tab of the NDA Collection in question.

• This transition requires the project's status to be up to date and all data submitted - all Data Expected items must have a "subject submitted" count of no less than 90% of the expected enrollment. NIAAA program officials must approve any exceptions to this calculation.

• Once the NDA Collection is in the "Data Analysis" phase, no notifications or reminders will be sent regarding upcoming expected data submissions.

During this phase of the project, researchers are only expected to report any publications as described in Manuscript Preparation. Notifications will be sent to the researchers and Program Officials for the associated grants if unreported publications are detected through PubMed.

Closeout

Once the Project Period End Date as defined in the grant is reached, the project will automatically transition into a "Funding Complete" phase, indicating the supported phases of the research project have ended. At this time, all data are expected to have been received, and any additional datasets generated should be deposited in NDA as well. After all data are deposited and reviewed for accuracy, the project will be closed.

Like in the "Data Analysis" phase, during this phase, researchers are only expected to report any publications as described in Manuscript Preparation. Notifications will be sent to the researchers and Program Officials for the associated grants if unreported publications are detected through PubMed. Data will be shared with the general research community at the time of an associated publication, or the end of the award/support period, whichever comes first.
