Getting Data from the NIAAA Data Archive (NIAAADA)

Data were recently shared from one of the first NIAAA-funded grants! Data sharing will increase in frequency as more NIAAADA Collections are added. Please check back regularly for updates regarding future data shared through NIAAADA. Data can be found by using the NDA Query Tool and searching for data in the NIAAA Data Archive Data Repository.

Please note that a great deal of data collected by other researchers in the field of mental health and beyond, including some data potentially relevant to alcohol research, already reside in NDA. These data are readily available through the NDA Query Tool to qualified researchers who have completed the steps described below.

Summaries of NIAAADA data are available to all, even without an NDA account. These include the number of participants, with data available for each measure, and response/value distributions. For access to individual-level data, however, researchers need to receive authorization by initiating a Data Access Request (DAR), completing the NDA Data Use Certification (DUC) within the DAR, and satisfying several pre-requisites. DARs will be reviewed by a special committee at NIAAA to ensure that the researcher has provided adequate information for the responsible use of the data per the terms of the DUC. Start the process to submit a DAR by creating an NDA account.
