Central Image Assessments

Semi-quantitative scoring and/or quantitative analysis of select radiographs and MR images were performed by several groups.

  1. Semi-quantitative assessment of fixed flexion knee radiographs include cross-sectional and/or longitudinal scores:
    • OARSI knee scores, including joint space width (JSW)
    • Kellgren & Lawrence grades (osteophytes, attrition, cysts, etc.)
  2. Quantitative assessment of fixed flexion knee radiographs include cross-sectional and/or longitudinal measurement:
    • Minimum JSW in medial compartment - longitudinal
    • JSW at 7 locations across medial compartment - longitudinal
  3. Semi-quantitative assessment of knee MR images include cross-sectional and/or longitudinal scores:
    • WORMS, BLOKS and/or MOAKS scoring
    • Cartilage integrity, osteophytes, cysts, meniscal integrity, effusion, ligament integrity, etc.
  4. Quantitative assessment of knee MR images include cross-sectional and/or longitudinal measures of cartilage morphology such as:
    • Volume, thickness, cartilage area, de-nuded area, bone curvature
    • Various regions of interest on patella, trochlea, tibial plateau and femoral condyles
  5. Quantitative assessment of full limb and fixed flexion knee radiographs for Hip Knee Ankle alignment angles
